Igazából pontatlan a címben fogalmazott, mivel a Fiatal Művészek Díjátadójáról van szó, amikor a Young Artist Awards-öt emlegetjük. A díjat a kiemelkedő televíziós-, film-, színházi- vagy zenei teljesítményéért kapják az egyes jelöltek. (Ebből már azt is lehet sejteni, hogy bennünket, csak a tévés részleg érdekel. A többieket vissza lehet nézni a hivatalos oldalán.)

Magáról a díjról annyit kell tudni, hogy 1978-ban a Young Artist Foundation elnevezésű alapítvány hozta létre abból a célból, hogy elismerjék fiatal előadóművészek tehetségét, valamint támogassák őket. Az első 20 díjátadónak a neve Youth in Film/Young Artist Awards volt, majd 2000-től az előtagot elhagyták. 2011-ben 32. alkalommal került megrendezésre március végén. Külön felhívnám a figyelmet a jelöltek sorára, ahol feltűnik: a Chase, a Flashpoint, a Happy Town, a Rookie Blue, a Gary Unmarried, vagy a Tower Prep – tehát egy sor olyan sorozat, ami alapjába véve, rangosabb díjátadón eleve jelölést se kapott.
